The new Urban Electric Bike by Audi seems like a lot of fun, but we think it’s a got a lot more than that going for it, as it's a bit more extreme than the similar offering from Smart.
Firstly, we’re expecting the pedaling motion to recharge the batteries, so theoretically, a bike, an electric motor and a generator, being powered by a human could get you really far, without much effort and at least a 24 km/h (15mph) top speed which is more than adequate for moving about within a congested city.
It also looks like a lot of fun, with wheelies and drifts being easy thanks to the bike’s twist grip throttle (same as on a motorbike or scooter). This makes Audi’s bike much more than a tool from getting from point A to point B - it can be fun!
We really like Audi’s new electric bike and we hope to be able to test one of these as soon as possible and give you the full story.
