The New York Auto Show has brought the Z-Spec accessory line for the 2012 Chevy Sonic. In fact, the introduction of the vehicle is being used to launch the carmaker’s Z-Spec range of goodies, which is scheduled to hit the market later this year.

The Z-Spec accessories don’t target the tech side of the vehicle, only enhancing the exterior and the interior. The Sonic now wears a sporty bodykit that includes front and rear aprons, new side skirts, a roof spoiler, as well as chromed grille surrounds.

As you can see, Chevrolet also offers full body graphics. The car now rides on 16- and 17-inch alloy rims, which accentuate the dynamic image.

As for the interior, this has received custom sill plates and aluminum pedals that bring the driver to a dynamic mood, making the person behind the wheel more eager to push the pedal on the right.

Customers can choose between two gasoline engines, a 1.8-liter Ecotec that delivers 135 hp and can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic and a 1.4-liter turbocharged mill (this is the one you want) that produces 138 hp and should return a 40 mph highway fuel efficiency.

The new Z-Spec accessories reinforce Sonic’s fun, youthful spirit,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. “Customization is particularly important with the customers we believe will gravitate toward the Sonic, and we want to help them make their vehicle look exactly the way they want as easily as possible.
