Now, That's Cliffhanger's Bike

The guy who first came up with the idea of having some strong fellows with hooks and ropes at the top of a hill climb track deserves his weight in beer.
Most likely fed up 2ith all the riders being injured after failing to reach solid level ground atop of the climb and seeing many of the bikes wrecked after the long fall, someone re-discovered the hook and rope. This video shows just how useful this innovation was and how many broken bones and sprain ankles and elbows a simple hook can spare.

Failing to reach the top of the hill is already a sufficient dose of fail, and falling back some 50 feet (16 m) or more and having the bike tumbling down behind is definitely not helping.

So having a strong guy hooking the bike in place, and allowing the rider to cling on to it until more ropes are thrown and the situation is under control is truly priceless, and these “bike fishers” truly deserve a cold one at the end of the day.
