Not Another Teen Stealing Mommy's Car and Crashing It

The only difference between teens these days and back when we were their age is that nowadays you've got CCTV and people with smartphones ready to record their shenanigans.
There should a law stating that every household containing at least one teenager should be equipped with a security box, and the parents must place the car keys in it at all times. If necessary, the law should state, the parents are allowed to remove any gun they might have and use that box for safe-keeping the car keys.

There's something about that troublesome age and the desire to drive a vehicle that ignores even the most excellent upbringing and turns kids into carjackers. I never did it myself, but I did ride with a friend of mine who waited for his parents to go to sleep before grabbing the keys and going for a joyride. We were both extremely stupid, but since we never got caught, there was nobody to tell use that.

After the incredibly botched-up job that Canadian kid did with his mother's Porsche Cayenne, now comes another one, only this time from Russia. While this one clearly had the potential of ending a lot worse than the failed parking attempt (in his defense, that was indeed a tight garage door), seeing and, above all, hearing that Porsche scratch and smash against the wall was definitely more painful.

Taking the family Volkswagen Passat, a 16-year-old girl invited her friends for a drive through the city. As if not owning a driver's license wasn't enough, the teenager also sped down a larger boulevard, so when the street went left she failed to follow it, crashing the car into a roadside bollard and then coming to a violent stop in a concrete lamp post.

The airbags were deployed and, according to the report, the driver and her three passengers suffered serious injuries since it's hard to imagine any of the people on the back seat were wearing their seatbelts.
