No, the Yamaha R25 Is Definitely Not M1’s Little Sister

As new pre-release photos of Yamaha’s upcoming quarter-liter bike dubbed R25 surface, one thing has become clear: it will not be the awesome M1-inspired bike Valentino Rossi introduced, and I just know that I’m not the only guy who feels a bit disappointed…
The latest photos tmcblog published show a sporty design, with solid looks and consistent with the YZF range, with an upgraded front cowl and headlight array, but with none of the M1 cues which made us cheer when we saw Vale riding the prototype.

The bike’s nose can be observed well enough in the header picture, and it looks like Yamaha chose a more aggressive line for its upcoming bike, using a dual-headlight array. A classic cat eye shape with revised styling, the front of the R25 is as sporty as it gets, even though the bars seem a tad too high for a bike with real nerve. The same goes for the single-rotor front brake.

Still, not all hope is lost, as the 250cc is most likely a treat for the Asian markets, while another model, possibly the R3, could receive a restyling for the European and North American markets. As the time to the official launch of the R25 is drawing near, more and more fellows in the motorcycle business seem to favor such a scenario.

As Yamaha’s direct rivals Honda, Kawasaki and KTM have already upped their small machines’ displacements for the Western models, we can expect that the house of Iwata does the same with the new bike. And maybe the 300cc model will get that amazing M1 face which will surely make it sell like hot cakes.
