Nissan Skyline GT-R Drifting on a Skidpad Is How You Can Have Fun with an R32

While it may not come to mind easily, the R32 Skyline that started the modern day GT-R madness will be three decades old in a few years from now. So, how much fun can you have in one of these senior sportscars?
Well, provided that your R32 GT-R has been well maintained, or recently cared for and is in good condition, the answer is "a lot." You don't even have to take our word for it, as we've brought along a video that demonstrates this.

This isn't your heavily-modded-Skyline-destroys-Nurburgring clip. Far from it. Instead, we're dealing with an R32 GT-R that's close to the standard car, generating giggles at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. This British racing temple has seen tons of iconic moments over the years, but as you'll see below, we're here for entirely different reasons.

With a wet skidpad at hand, the driver of the Nissan is practicing his all-wheel-drive drifting skills. And thanks to the rear bias of the GT-R's AWD system, things are going rather smoothly. For the record, we're dealing with a car that, in standard form, delivers 276 hp and 266 lb·ft (361 Nm) of twist, while tipping the scales at 3,146 lbs (1,430 kg).

This is the kind of shenanigan we're inviting you to perform using your car. Even if you drive an FWD machine, all you need is a functional handbrake. With a wet or snowy surface, learning car control is a rather easy process.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes - the GT-R driver is shown running towards the grass in the clip, but nobody complained about it. The only rule you'll have to follow is to find a stretch of tarmac that's not a public road and then you can easily play with your ride.

Until then, make sure you check out the clip below for a slab of light-hearted JDM drifting action, one that is complete with on-board scenes.
