Nissan Nismo GT-R RC Debuts in Tokyo

The Tokyo Auto is bringing us a lot of special goodies that come to offer more than we usually get from the standard versions. One of these cars is the Nissan Nismo GT-R RC (Racing Competition), a production race car.

The NISSAN NISMO GT-R RC is the latest entry to the RC (Racing Competition) line of high performance, production model race cars developed and outfitted by NISMO. It's built up from the world renowned, top performance NISSAN GT-R (R35) road car,” a company statement reads.

We have to start by telling you that the vehicle is based on the pre-facelift incarnation of the R35 GT-R. The vehicle’s VR38DETT 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 has been left untouched, which means we get “over” 485 hp and 588 Nm of torque.

Even though it doesn’t offer 530 hp like the refreshed version of the street-destined GT-R, the racer comes with a lighter body, thanks to the use of carbon fiber for the bumper, hood, trunk lid and rear wing. The acrylic rear windows is also a part of the diet that allows the vehicle to tip the scales at 1,520 kg.

Nismo also gifted the vehicle with a height adjustable racing suspension and with a beefier braking system that uses 410 mm (front) and 380 mm (rear) rotors. The vehicle uses ADVAN 290/710 R20 slick tires, which are standard for all RC models.

As for the safety features, these include an FIA standards-compliant weld-in roll cage, bucket seat & driver safety harness, fire extinguisher, ATL 120 liter safety fuel cell and air jacks.

The GT-R RC is eligible for production car series from around the world, being offered for a price of JPY 20,790,000 ($250,500 or EUR188,000).
