The Nissan NV200 might be New York’s exclusive Taxi of Tomorrow, but the Japanese manufacturer’s involvement with the Big Apple doesn’t end there, as a pilot program involving six Nissan Leaf zero emissions vehicles will be used to test the feasibility of the project.
Nissan and the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission plan to put the cars in use with owner-operators for one year, each getting their cars for free as a lease.

“Please see the industry notice and information sheet below to learn more about this exciting opportunity and how you can apply to be one of New York City's first electric taxi operators,” the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission says.

An information session will be held on November 9th, with applications for the lease program to be received by November 30th.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
