Companies offering a way to outsmart the dreaded police reader are finding they have to take to antivirus-style crowdsourcing to deal with the “threats”. The iRadar app from Cobra, which has been available for about a year, has also added this service.
The company says that you can now participate in real-time reporting of speed traps, speed cameras and other road hazards, using just your smartphone.
“Today's announcement represents the next phase in the evolution of the iRadar platform. It will be available as a free app with free lifetime updates for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices beginning November 1, 2011, and coming soon for Android smartphones,” the company says.
If you’re using an Android phone, you’ll just have to wait until January 2012 for their chance to go radar-spotting.
