Nissan Leaf Arrives in the Pacific Northwest

Nissan's electric vehicle Leaf is continuing its tour with the announcement that the car is to be unveiled in the Pacific Northwest, a potential huge market for the EV, as it comprises some ten million people from British Columbia to Oregon. The Leaf will be brought to Qwest Field, in Seattle, by electric transportation specialist ECOtality.

“We are excited to have the Pacific Northwest as a selected market for The EV Project, and especially pleased to participate in debuting the LEAF here in the region," Jonathan Read, ECOtality CEO said.

"We believe that effective adoption of this technology in the Pacific Northwest is critical to the success of the Project and EVs in North America. ECOtality and eTec are also very proud to have Rich Feldman on our team, helping to lead the way toward full implementation of the project.”

The Leaf is powered by laminated compact lithium-ion batteries that manage to develop 90 kW, with the electric motors producing 80 kW/280 Nm of torque. The range of the EV is estimated at about 100 miles (160 km) on a full charge.

After Seattle, the Leaf will continue its North American tour, with scheduled stops in 22 cities from 11 states. In the Pacific Northwest, the Leaf will also be seen in Vancouver (Dec. 14-15) and Portland (Dec. 17-23). For the full schedule follow this link.
