Nissan Launches Approved Bodyshop Programme

The British division of Japanese carmaker Nissan announced today it has launched the new Approved Bodyshop Programme, as it has partnered with paint professionals BASF Coatings in order to offer customers a reliable repair of a scratch, scrape or even a more serious damage brought to the paint of the car.

BASF Coatings has partnered with the carmaker’s production lines around the world for many years, including the Sunderland Plant in the UK since 2001. Now, the company has been chosen as the sole Preferred Paint Partner for the Nissan Approved Bodyshop Programme.

“Initially with a three year agreement in place, BASF Coatings has re-enforced its position as a Nissan partner at both local and European levels,” a company statement reads.

Through the Nissan Approved Bodyshop Programme, a full range of paint shop products and services will be offered via BASF Coating’s two premium brands, Glasurit and R-M.

“Ensuring a quality customer experience throughout the ownership cycle is at the heart of everything we do. Offering the best possible bodyshop services is all part of providing a strong ownership package so we’re delighted to announce this new partnership with BASF Coatings,” Nissan Motor GB MD Paul Willcox said in a release.

Nissan is known for its Scratch Shield paint, which self-treats fine scratches and is capable of restoring the vehicles’ paint surfaces overnight or up to a week’s instance in more severe cases.

The amount of time required for self-repair depends on the surrounding temperature and the depth of the scratch. The paint does not self-repair if scratches are deep enough to sever the bonds within the clearcoat or if the clearcoat has been peeled off.

Nissan’s special paint technology was commercially introduced in December 2005.
