Since it looks like a futuristic armored car and comes in colors like Force Red, Haptic Blue and Machine Brown, the Juke crossover could sell itself just fine in America. So Nissan probably had a lot of money and time on its hands and no real objective in mind when they created this series of ads, and we sure are glad they did.
Following the old saying “when in doubt, put a bikini model in a commercial” (it’s not really that old, so you might not know it), a series of four ads were created to answer the age-old question: what’s better, the Nissan Juke or a tall blond bombshell in high heels?
The ingenious marketing campaign pits Amber and the car against each other in the categories of acceleration, agility, appeal and aerodynamics. Neither really wins in the end, but we get to see the girl (who looks a bit like Yvonne Strahovski in our opinion) in four skimpy outfits, plus a few slow-motion shots that really get the blood flowing.
The Juke is admittedly faster off the line, and better at the slalom, but we don’t really care. At the same time, she is more likely to short-circuit a man’s brain than the Juke, but we expected that.
Nissan is teaming up with Sports Illustrated to highlight a few specific models this year, one made of metal plus eight lovely ladies taking part in the “Model Search” contest for the 2011. The contest starts today and runs through March 9th. The winner will be announced on March 10th, while voting can be done online.
