Nissan Hi-Cross Concept: Teaser Video for Geneva. New Murano?

We’re not going to beat around the bush here: Nissan has released a teaser video for the Hi-Cross Concept that will bow at the Geneva Motor Show, and they haven’t stated a single thing beyond the obvious. Although it sound like a preview for a future production car, there’s no way to know for sure.
The concept is supposed to illustrate their their prowess in the crossover segment where they are leaders, at least according to the Nissan statement. The lineup of soft-roaders will be enhanced by the Hi-Cross, but how?

Well, the roof is relatively flat and the concept has four doors and a big hatch at the back, all things indicating it's not a compact. What’s more, the grille borrows from the Juke, but the lights are angular and arrow-shaped. This is a pure crossover, so stuff like the Patrol SHW or LWB are out of the question. The Qashqai is doing very well, so Nissan wouldn’t go about changing it.

So the only real real alternative is a new Murano. The current version is a refreshed version of the model originally launched in 2003. It could invaluable if they get it right, and Nissan might actually rename it to make us forget about the ugly grille and pour market performance.

autoevolution will be attending the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
