Chinese phones have really taken off this year, becoming successful all over the world. Will the same be true for their electric cars? This is one of the most promising products, the Nio ES6, which is a mid-size SUV.
Although you may not have heard of Nio, this company seems more legitimate than many EV startups in America. Their EP9 electric supercar set a blistering time at the Goodwood festival of speed, and they already have another EV, the ES8.

Bringing an EV to other markets is not as easy as doing it with smartphones. But China may become the biggest EV market in the world, and the profits from the ES6 could be huge. Let's just see what it has to offer.

First of all, there's a variety of configurations already on sale. The base ES6 starts at around $51,800. It comes with two electric motors and a range of about 250 miles on the 70 kWh battery. However, the true attention grabber is the flagship that has 400 kW and a larger 84 kWh battery.

This costs the equivalent of $65,000, which is a lot of money. But you have to remember that a Tesla would be more than twice as expensive. Based on the NEDC cycle, Nio estimates a total range of 510 km (317 miles), which in combination with the 0 to 62 time of 4.7 seconds makes this a compelling SUV.

The tech is pretty cool too. The ES6 has a high-efficiency permanent magnet (PM) motor for low-speed daily use and a high-performance induction motor (IM) for the fun stuff.

The styling is pretty good as well, like a combination between the new RAV4 and a Lamborghini Urus. The ES6 is 4,850 mm (191 in) long and 1,965 mm (77.3 in) wide, with a 2,900 mm (114 in) wheelbase. The interior is, like most EVs, minimalist, featuring two screens as focal points. Highlights include a fragrance dispenser, optional Nappa leather, and an AI infotainment.
