German driver Nico Rosberg won the Formula One British Grand Prix for Mercedes-Benz yesterday, after a thrilling and tire-exploding packed race at Silverstone.
The Pirelli tire failures were decisive even from the beginning, with pole sitter and race leader Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) being forced to enter the pits with a punctured left rear tire in lap seven. The same thing happened to Felipe Massa (Ferrari) and Jean-Eric Vergne (STR) later in the race, but the two were lucky enough to make it to the pits and continue the Grand Prix after a tire switch.
Following Hamilton’s retirement, current world champion Sebastian Vettel jumped into the lead and there was little doubt the German will miss yet another victory. However, with only eleven laps to go, Vettel had to call it a day due to a gearbox failure. Rosberg took the lead immediately and eventually won the race ahead of Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing) and Fernando Alonso (Ferrari).

3.Raikkonen (Lotus) - 98

5.Webber (Red Bull) - 87

3.Ferrari - 168
