Nexteer Automotive has announced the introduction of a brand new steering system specifically designed for heavy duty pickup trucks. Unlike the ones offered for light duty trucks, this new HD system is hybrid electro-hydraulic.
Scheduled to become available in production pickup trucks starting 2015, the brand new steering system combines the company's Magnasteer with Torqu Overlay (MTO) and Smart Flow hydraulic pump technologies. While the MTO gathers data from multiple vehicle sensors to determine the proper level of assist and response, the Smart Flow will deliver fluid pressure to the steering system on demand.

Founded more than 100 years ago (under a different name), Nextsteer is currently the fourth-largest steering-parts supplied and has more than 60 customers, including Ford, General Motors and Chrysler.
