It seems like BMW has big plans for the upcoming M5. According to German magazine Auto Bild, the Bavarians are preparing a monstrous M5 to take the opposition down from day one.
The new car will be having over 600 HP and 530 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque at its disposal, probably coming from the same 4.4-liter engine. When you mix this with the rumors that the new chassis will be a lot lighter, it seems like we're in for a treat.

After officially revealing that the new M3 and M4 have been built with lightness as a central concern, BMW is now looking to bring that famous M feeling back to all of its cars that have been facing criticism lately for being overweight.

Furthermore, there are plans to bring out the first ever M5 with an AWD system but only as an optional feature. Seeing as all of its rivals started offering 4WD versions of their direct competitors for the M5, the xDrive system will be thrown in battle too, thus giving the M5 a possible 0-60 time of under 3.5 seconds.
