Word is that Toyota has green-lighted a new project based on a longer wheelbase GT 86 model, which might get materialized as a new sporty sedan if not a Supra successor.
After we've seen the earlier rendering, Theophilus Chin, who envisioned a GT 86 sedan in 2011, updated his design and came up with this black “production version”, which looks more down-to-Earth than what we've seen so far.
The new car will have a 100 mm longer wheelbase than the current GT 86 sportscar and it will be powered by the same 200 hp 2-liter boxer engine, with a possible hybrid powertrain offered as an option.
With the GT 86 Open Top project being put on hold indefinitely, we'll have to wait and hope this sporty sedan idea will live enough to see the asphalt in a near future.
