New Prius Family Coming to NAIAS

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the first big automotive event of next year, has now become one of capital importance for Japanese manufacturer Toyota. So badly affected in 2010 by the major recalls it had to announce, as well as by the launch of electric vehicles by rivals GM and Nissan, the car maker plans to make 2011 count in its history. Toyota announced at the beginning of the weekend that the NAIAS event will be the venue of choice for the introduction of its up until now rumored new line of hybrid vehicles. Wearing the Prius name plate, the new family will comprise an undisclosed number of models, as well as a new Prius concept vehicle. “Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., will stage the world premiere of the Prius family of vehicles at a press conference at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.  In addition to the current third-generation Prius and Prius Plug-in vehicle (PHV), the first all-new addition to the Prius Family will debut along with a Prius concept vehicle,” the Japanese manufacturer says in the statement announcing the debuts. It will all go down on January 10, during a press conference to be hosted by Toyota.
