The 997 Porsche 911 was and still is a great car, and one of the best 911 models ever made by the German automaker - it is also the last with proper steering feel, as the new model, the 991 has moved to a admittedly very good electric system.
However, with the launch of the 991, the 997 now looks a bit old fashioned, and it is quite a bit slower than the new car. It is also more comfortable, greener and better built and more modern inside. Also, considering the fact that the 991 Carrera S is just three tenths of a second slower to 100 km/h (62 mph) than the outgoing GT3 model, the introduction of a new GT3 is definitely in order.

According to carbuzz.com, the new GT3 will most likely make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show, next year, packing around 450 hp (versus the old car’s 435 hp), as well as the inclusion of the PDK seven-cog gearbox into the options list. Even with the increased output, it is still 50 hp down on the 997 GT3 RS 4.0, yet the replacement for that car will undoubtedly beat that figure, and be even quicker.
