Late last year, Porsche finally unveiled a new 911 convertible based on the 991 platform, and now both the Carrera and the Carrera S versions are ready to make their motor show debuts in Detroit next weak, highlighting the importance of the US market for the automaker.
The base Carrera comes with a downsized engine, the new 3.4-liter packing 350 hp, while the Carrera S Cabriolet offers a 3.8-liter engine developing 400 hp. Both are fitted with a new seven-speed manual gearbox as standard. Optionally, you could have the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) double-clutch transmission
“The USA is and remains an important market for Porsche with good growth prospects,” said Bernhard Maier, Porsche AG Board of Management Member for Sales and Marketing. “Detroit was deliberately chosen for the world premiere of the new 911 Cabrio because the USA is far and away our largest 911 Cabrio market.”
