Looking for a hot supermini to buy before summer arrives? You're spoiled for choice. Existing champions like the Polo GTI have recently been joined by the Ford Fiesta ST (available for order), and we're eagerly expecting the arrival of the next Clio RS.
Peugeot has its own toy on offer, the 208 GTi, which will go on sale on April 18th but is already available for order from £18,895 for a 3-door model.
For the money, the 208 GTi gives you a 1.6-liter engine with 200 PS. The same engine is used in the RCZ, as well as the Mini Cooper S and some entry-level BMWs, even in longitudinal applications. But PSA's version has always been different in terms of response.
Performance-wise, the 208 GTi takes 6.8 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h, while top speed should be about 220 km/h (not officially announced yet).
At £18,895 is one of the most expensive hot superminis you can buy, being even more expensive than a MINI Cooper S, which is £18,180. Still, standard equipment is very generous: 17-inch wheels, LED daytime runners, DAB radio and even rear parking sensors.
