Pioneer joined the CES 2021 party with a series of several major announcements, and one of them concerns a new head unit bringing Android Auto and CarPlay to cars where aftermarket upgrades have been quite a struggle until now.
The new DMH-C5700NEX receiver boasts a modular design, and Pioneer promises it can be installed in a wide array of cars with the help of dash kits created by Metra Electronics.

With the DMH-WC5700NEX, Pioneer provides an automotive upgrade solution for many different vehicles that typically have been extremely restrictive or even impossible with regard to the installation of an aftermarket in-dash receiver, including several popular late model Chevrolet vehicles such as the Silverado and Camaro,” said Ted Cardenas, vice president of marketing for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

With this solution, owners of these vehicles now have an option for adding Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and more to enhance and upgrade their driving experience.

The new head unit comes with a 6.8-inch display, so you’re not getting the largest screen out there, but at least, you can finally enjoy the benefits of wireless Android Auto and CarPlay. In other words, you won’t even have to use a cable, as everything works wirelessly as long as you have a Samsung or Google Pixel running Android 10, any phone on Android 11, or an up-to-date iPhone (the iPhone 6s and newer are supported by iOS 14).

The feature lineup of this new receiver is similar to the one of the 9-inch DMH-WC6600NEX and also includes Bluetooth support, built-in HD radio, SiriusXM compatibility, RGB illumination, HDMI video input, rear camera support, and 4V RCA preamplifier outputs.

Pioneer hasn’t yet shared any specifics on the price of this head unit, but the company revealed it’s projected to go on sale in the summer of this year, so more information would probably be shared closer to the release date.
