The K3 / Cerato / Forte has been the car that carried Kia through until it could reinvent itself. It's by far their best selling car of all time. Now there's a new compact sedan built by the Korean manufacture and much is expected of it.
The new Kia Cerato was just launched in Malaysia, a very important market for this car. The model has been re-branded, having previously been known as the Forte in the county. It's now going to be available with either a .16-liter or a 2.0-liter engine and boasts comprehensive features and cool new looks.
The basic model comes with a Gamma II MPI 1.6-liter engine which is rated at 130 PS and 157 Nm of torque. It's expected to return 6.8 liter per 100 km on the combined cycle. There more powerful option is a 2.0-liter from the Nu MPI family that boasts 161 PS and 194 Nm of torque.
Prices start at RMY 99,888 ($31,371 or €24,150) and standard kit is quite generous, the best news in our opinion being the standard six-speed automatic gearbox. The relatively low price is thanks to the fact that the new Cerato is now assembled locally in Gurun, Kedah.
