New Honda Civic Rear End Revealed

The Honda Civic is one of the most important compacts on the market, so it's only natural that the arrival of a new generation stirs a lot of interest. The 2012 European Civic will make its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show, but Honda has released a teaser image of the car today, showing us that it has brought sexy back.

As you can see, the theme used by the outgoing Civic has served as a base for the new development, but the changes are profound. In addition to that, we can also see a few styling cues borrowed from the Insight, which can only mean that the company is aiming to reduce drag, in order to offer a high level of efficiency.

The new headlights make use of LED technology and come with a triangular shape. The designers have pulled an interesting trick, using the headlight, together with a strip that connects them, as a spoiler.

The visual part of the story looks incredibly promising, but we are curios to see how this shape influences visibility.

Here's how Honda wants us to think about its upcoming baby: "The ninth generation Civic hatchback will also offer stand-out looks combined with class-leading space for passengers and luggage – and will continue to deliver peace of mind with low running costs, through Honda’s famed and unparalleled reliability."

We are expecting Honda to release the car bit by bit byte by byte prior to its unveiling at the upcoming Frankfurt event.
