If you have a business and need something bigger than a van, but smaller than a full-sized truck, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading truck manufacturers, may have the answer for you, with their refreshed Canter Hybrid.
It is designed mainly for city deliveries and transportation of small quantities of goods (small compared to other trucks, not your average sized hatchback). It is claimed that the new truck is the most efficient in the world, within its 2 ton class, featuring a 3-liter diesel engine, which is helped by an electric motor with a maximum output of 200Nm. It also features a world first: a dual-clutch transmission which also houses the electric motor, while offering very smooth changes and significantly improving emissions.
Having sold 1,200 Fuso Canter hybrids since its launch in 2008, MFTBC seem confident that the refreshed version will continue to sell throughout its world markets. It also looks like it’s quite fun to thread through narrow city streets and traffic and with the 200Nm boost it should be quite nippy too.
