After a lengthy wait, the new generation Ford Mustang has finally touched down in Australia. The muscle car is offered with three distinct powertrains in two body styles and is currently available to order.
To no one's surprise, the lineup kicks off with the Mustang EcoBoost Fastback. The 2.3-liter four-banger produces 232 kW (315 ps/311 hp) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque, comes with a ten-speed auto exclusively, and starts at AU$64,990 (equaling US$41,215).

Next in line is the most affordable version of the V8-powered pony car, the Mustang GT Fastback. This one uses a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter unit rated at 347 kW (472 ps/465 hp) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) and is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox or a ten-speed auto. Pricing starts at AU$77,002 (US$48,833) and AU$80,802 (US$52,243), respectively. The GT Convertible AT can be yours from AU$86,752 (US$55,016).

Topping the 2024 Ford Mustang family is the Dark Horse. This model is capped at 1,000 units for Australia and comes with the same lump as the GT, albeit with revised power. The engine produces 349 kW (475 ps/468 hp) and 548 Nm (404 lb-ft). The six-speed manual transmission is standard here, but the ten-speed auto is available as an option. The Dark Horse MT has a recommended retail price of AU$99,102 (US$62,848) and the AT of AU$103,002 (US$65,322).

Depending on the chosen model, the Dearborn company’s latest muscle car can be fitted with additional gizmos. For instance, the GT Appearance pack brings a GT spoiler, and black with gray stripes is limited to the EcoBoost Fastback and GT Fastback. The Black Pack brings black logos, side mirror caps, roof, and black 19-inch alloys to the GT Convertible and GT Fastback. The MagneRide Suspension and Recaro bucket seats are limited to the GT Fastback.

The range-topping version of the series, the Dark Horse, comes with its own optional Appearance Pack, featuring the Vapour Blue or Shadow Black paint finish or the exclusive Blue Ember Prestige that costs extra, blue brake calipers, and a black roof. The Recaro sports seats are also available in this model.

Ford says the new generation Mustang is up for grabs in Australia, and those who place a deposit today will get their cars in the second quarter of 2024.

A total of nine different versions of the 2024 Ford Mustang are available in the United States of America. The cheapest one on sale starts at $30,920 for the EcoBoost Fastback and $39,020 for the EcoBoost Convertible. The Mustang GT has an MSRP of $42,495, and the GT Convertible is some $10,000 pricier. Last but not least, the Dark Horse and Dark Horse Premium complete the offering with respective MSRPs of $59,270 and $63,265.
