After the berserk-ified 2016 Cadillac ATS-V and the Corvette Z06 supercharged V8-engined CTS-V, the poshest band in the General Motors portfolio also plans to roll a plethora of new models. Three of the upcoming nameplates are the CT6 flagship sedan, the 2016 Cadillac XT5 and an all-new mid-size sedan.
It’s no longer a mystery how Caddy will rename its entire lineup (sans the Escalde) from CT2 to CT8 and XT2 to XT8. The W222-gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class-rivaling 2016 Cadillac CT6 flagship sedan is probably the model we’re most curious about. Our latest report on it pretty much sums up all there is to know at the moment, which is why I recommend to move on to the 2016 Cadillac XT5 mid-size crossover.

With the second-generation SRX slated to end its production lifecycle sometime this year, the third-gen will replace it with a new name (XT5), a major exterior design overhaul, an brand new car platform condenamed C1XX that will be shared with the next generation Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.

What about the all-new mid-size sedan?

AutomotiveNews had a chat with de Nysschen and the Caddy prez told them something really interesting. After Mercedes-Benz bumped the sticker of the CLA to $31,500, Johan de Nysschen is weighing the possibility of introducing an entry-level Cadillac sedan with premium credentials.

Speaking to the previously mentioned publication, Cadillac’s numero uno told that this new sedan is classified as a “big priority” for the brand. Slotted below the 2015 Cadillac ATS ($34,985), we expect this new mid-size sedan from Caddy to hold a starting price of around 31 grand.

De Nysschen also disclosed that the rear-wheel drive GM Alpha platform that underpins the ATS will be adapted for the all-new sedan, giving it the edge over the front-wheel drive CLA and Audi A3 sedan.
