So you’re sick of all this technology filling up every minute of your existence and you simply want to go back in time, when things used to be simpler. Since there’s no time machine you can buy at Wallmart, what about going for a good old 8-bit gaming session with a Nintendo Entertainment System built out of an ECTO-1 die-cast vehicle from the famous Ghostbusters?
Since everybody has been talking about the Back To The Future DeLorean car a lot lately (maybe it’s because we’ve just stepped into 2015, which was the year Marty and Doc traveled to in the second movie) we figured there has to be at least one other vehicle which became famous for the movie it starred in.
Bling! Ghostbusters! Remember the Ecto-1 car? You know, that crazy car the guys were traveling with throughout New York City busting ghosts and other entities. The vehicle originally used for the movie was a 1959 Cadillac professional chassis, built by Miler-Meteor company.
Good. Now take this car as an inspiration, build a die-cast out of it, fit it with some circuits and there you have it, a functional NES system. The one in question was created by a company dubbed Ultimate Customs and is currently available on eBay. The vehicle has been heavily modified to fit both controller ports, the cartridge slot and power button, as well as the system.
The interior is entirely removed and all doors are non-accessible, but the blue sirens on the top have been wired to illuminate with blue LEDs when the system is powered on. How cool is that, right?
The person selling it says the system is 100% functional but is not an original NES board or pins. “It is the aftermarket Retrobit console, the most noticeable difference in these systems is that the picture may not be as crisp as an original”, they explain. It takes about $600 (shipping included) to get one, but we say it’s totally worth it.
