Following the fixed-head coupe and soft-top convertible, the M8 and M8 Competition are now available with four doors and seating for four people. Pricing starts at $130,000 in the United States before the $995 destination charge, and the first examples of the breed will be delivered in 2020.
The M8 Gran Coupe First Edition is available in limited numbers, namely 400 units of which 50 are coming to the U.S. in BMW Individual Aurora Diamond Green with Gold Bronze garnish. Taruma Brown Merino leather upholstery, specific wheels, and exclusive door sill plates are also featured.

Regardless of specification, the M8 Gran Coupe comes with 10.25 inches of touchscreen infotainment and 12.3 inches of digital instrument cluster. A head-up display, wireless charger for your smartphone, carbon-fiber trim, and LED ambient lighting complement the M steering wheel and M gear selector.

On the outside, the newcomer’s black kidney grille is best matched with the M Carbon exterior package. CFRP for the mirror caps, rear spoiler and aerodynamic diffuser, as well as the air intakes up front level up the aggressive elegance of the M8 Gran Coupe. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also available, and while on the subject of performance parts, this model features M Servotronic steering, M adaptive suspension, and the M active differential for the rear axle.

Many changes were made over lesser models, including the M850i xDrive with the less powerful version of the twin-turbo V8. The chassis, for example, benefits from exclusive swivel bearings, control arms, torque arms, forged links for the rear axle, and stiffer anti-roll bars which improve the roadholding.

The Competition is the one you want, packing 625 PS (616 horsepower) and 750 Nm (553 pound-feet) of torque from 4.4 liters of displacement. Opting for the M Driver’s Package translates to 305 km/h (190 mph) instead of 250 km/h) (155 mph) while zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes only 3.2 seconds.

Non-Competition models are a tenth of a second slower, but nevertheless, that’s quick if you remember M8 Gran Coupe is quite a heavy car. Production is scheduled to kick off in November 2019, and the Competition is $13,000 more expensive than the standard model.
