New BMW M3 Rear Revealed While Undergoing Assembly, Hints at Detroit Debut

BMWs are some of the most commonly leaked cars, partly because the manufacturer likes a little extra attention, but also due to genuine interest in the brand. And the M3 is the latest sacrifice made to the internet gods, seen from the sexy back angle without any camouflage.
We don't think this is something BMW wants us to see since the prototype is missing its badges. What's the point of leaking a photo if the #tags aren't easy to make? But even though there's no M3 badge, this is clearly our favorite drifting compact sedan.

The LA Auto Show is just around the corner, but we figure BMW will wait at least another couple of months before pulling the covers. That's what happened with the X5 M, which was also leaked, plus the big production starts are usually in the spring to prepare for the next model year.

The fiery red sedan does at least show itself as a very real speed freak, featuring a bold rear diffuser as a home for the trademark quad exhaust pipes. By the way, don't those look unfinished? As with previous generations, the G80 M3 sports much wider fenders compared to the 3 Series, which not only adds to its muscular aggression but also covers up the enlarged tracks and tires.

The bit people actually want to see is the front, where designers have grafted on the tallest double-kidney grilles ever fitted to an M car, the kind you saw on the Concept 4 last month. Behind those grilles sits a new bi-turbo 3-liter engine, which BMW has confirmed to have 510 horsepower in M3 Competition form or 30 less when the stock version is concerned.

Since almost all models will have automatic gearboxes and xDrive for lightning-fast launches, BMW thought it best to have something special for the die-hard purists. That's the M3 Pure with a manual and 460 HP, enjoyed only by the rear tires.

#bmw #bmwm3 #m3 #m3e92 #m3f80 #m3e46 #m3e36 #m3fan #m3fanatics #bmwfan #bmwfanatics #bmwfans #bmwfanatic #bmwm3e46 #bmwm3f80 #bmwm3life

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
