New Audi TTS Roadster Promo: About Wives, Navigation and Music

We're writing this piece about the new TTS Roadster not only because this is the first time we've seen it on video, but also because we want to give credit to Audi for telling it like it is. No 20 or 30-year old male model is going to afford a full-spec German premium convertible like this, so the promo features a couple of 40-something men with real life problems, talking during their weekend fishing adventure.

"I really love my wife man, except for when she's in the passenger seat,"
one of them says (in badly dubbed over English). How many guys do you know who have that problem?

Yes, the TTS Roadster can be considered a mid-life crisis car, costing somewhere in the region of €55,000 when it goes on sale in Europe early next year and offering next to no practicality. But then nobody should be judging people who simply enjoy driving. The gist of argument made by the video is just how happy your wife will be while cruising in your new Audi convertible.

Of course, the TT is no ordinary Audi rag-top. It's the only one to integrate the navigation into the screen in front of the driver (doubles as a speedometer) and the control for the air conditioning into small dials at the middle of the vents.

The new TTS Roadster is the type of car that we know everything and nothing about at the same time. At its core is the same setup as the TTS coupe, meaning a 310 PS 2-liter turbo engine motivates it to reach 100 km/h in only 4.9 seconds. What we don't know is exactly how much it costs and if the trick vents and nav screen will be standard.

Thanks to its lightness, the advanced technologies we mentioned and the fact it's relatively cheap (compared to an S5 or a BMW Z4), we consider this to be one of the most interesting cars currently offered with 2-liter engines.
