Aston Martin announced today it is expanding their V8 Vantage family with the addition of the new S version, which offers a number of driving-oriented features over the standard Vantage.
The V8 Vantage S is powered by a 4.7-liter unit, producing 424 hp (321 kW) and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is mated to a newly developed Sportshift II transmission with seven short ratio gears.
“The Vantage S epitomises every attribute of the V8 Vantage and pushes the driver experience beyond what we have offered before. It combines dynamic exhilaration with all the charming finesse, beauty and practicality already associated with the Vantage range,” stated Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin.
In order to give the Vantage S it’s own unique sound, Aston Martin have fitted it with a new exhaust muffler and bypass valve map, creating “avery distinctive and highly vocal exhaust note,” which we can’t wait to hear.
New springs and dampers, and wider rear wheels contribute significantly to chassis’ revision. A new dynamic stability control (DSC) system was specifically developed for the Vantage S, together with a new brake module that provides features such as Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) which provides assistance in emergency braking situations, and Hill Start Assist (HSA).
The Vantage S borrows heavily from the V12’s look, sporting a lower front bumper made from carbon fiber. New 19 inch ‘V’ spoke wheels are available as standard, while an optional 10-spoke lightweight forged wheel is offered as an optional extra. A new rear bumper and side sills optically widen the car.
The car has been launched simultaneously in coupe and cabrio styles, and is already available for order through Aston Martin’s global dealership network. Curious about the price? So are we, because the V8 Vantage S doesn’t have a price tag yet.
