NBC Working on NASCAR TV Drama

We must admit, it took TV studios quite a lot of time before turning their attention to the racing series which is currently considered the most watched one in the US. Aside for a few movies and documentaries, the high-adrenaline, extremely challenging world of NASCAR has pretty much been ignored by TV and Hollywood big shots.

As some of you already know, perhaps the most successful NASCAR-themed movie was Tom Cruise's Days of Thunder of the 1990s. Since then, a few more attempts have been made, but for one reason or another, none of them had anything more than a moderate success.

Until now, that is. According to Deadline.com, NBC finally decided the world of NASCAR deserves a look and its own dedicated family drama. The network commissioned Joe Pokaski, one of the writer-producers for the highly successful Heroes, and producer Scott Stuber to create the new TV drama.

According to the sources, the name of the TV series will be The Crew. Currently, NBC is talking with NASCAR officials and is trying to get permission to use the sanctioning body's logos, tracks and so on.

There are so far no information available on how the series will look and feel like, or when it will be launched. We expect however the endeavor to be one filled with all those incredibly entertaining NASCAR attributes.

Add to that the advancements made in the movie industry since the Days of Thunder, and NBC might be on its way to another hit. More to follow, so stay tuned.
