The Greatest Living Scot is spending most of the time at his villa in Kranidi, Greece these days, neighboring the likes of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, with whom he even shares a helicopter platform. Sure, this post is not about Sean Connery, but about the 2003 movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen he starred in and a gorgeous vehicle that will go under the hammer soon.
The six-wheeled Nautilus car from Sean Connery’s adventure movie will be sold by international auctioneers Coys at their Blenheim Palace auction on July 11th. But since we’ve mentioned it we might as well take a closer look.

Designed by production designer and art director Carol Spider and one of only two made, this fully functional vehicle was used throughout the film and features heavily on the promotional posters.

We have a long tradition of selling film, television and celebrity cars, and having such a cool car from such a cool film is really exciting. We are offering an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire one of the cars that actually appeared in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and which will undoubtedly increase in value in years to come,” said Chris Routledge, Managing Partner of Coys.

Looking under the bonnet, we’re, in fact, dealing with a highly modified Land Rover fire tender, that was adapted via a steel frame with the addition of a Rover V8 engine. The chassis is covered in an intricate ivory colored fiberglass shell and features a wealth of elaborate embellishments in an aged gold effect on both the exterior and interior.

In case you ever wondered what inspired these people, apparently it has something to do with the Hindu god Ganesha, assorted with flora and fauna. The interior is trimmed with faux leather and even features the original Land Rover dials.

The vehicle is estimated at £18,000 to £25,000 ($28,540 to $39,640 at the current exchange rate). To be honest, we’re quite sure it will fetch a lot more than that when the time comes.
