Privately owned British auction house Bonhams has recently announced their newest automobile auction, set to take place on December 4, in New York. The event is dedicated exclusively to auto collectibles, such as original artworks, antique motoring watches, trophies and scratch-built scale models.
Bonhams claims they are well known for holding the record for the two most valuable cars ever sold at auction which is why the new one should be like Disneyland for any car nostalgic.
The Transportation History sale will be held in New York Citiy at the company’s Madison Avenue galleries and will feature an impressive array of historic automotive-related collectibles. With nearly 250 individual lots confirmed, the auction will consist of numerous early American and European pieces from prestigious private collections that have never before been publicly offered.
Received from the Blackhawk Automotive Museum collection, the auction will also consist of an early 20th century automobile weather vane, bronze sculptures and significant, one-off mascots never before seen.
“Among these rare, appreciated and intricately made works are a 1:10 scale model of a 1958 Maserati 3500 GT by Conti ($18,000-$22,000) and a 1:8 scale model of a 1931 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Roadster by da Corte ($27,000-$30,000),” Bonhams explains.

Unique scale models
Among the rare items to go under the hammer are also four original pieces from Peter Helck, the internationally renowned illustrator of pioneer racing scenes, as well as 15 vintage racing posters valued from $1,000 to over $20,000.
