Motorcyclist Discovers the Danger of Riding on Ice

The roads around Mount Lemmon, the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountain range, rising 2,791 m (9,157 ft) above sea level, are some of the most beautiful the US has to offer for both keen drivers and bikers alike. However, mountains being mountains, tourists need to watch out for any number of things, ranging from bears, to falling rocks, avalanches and, well, patches of ice on the tarmac.
Driving your car over ice is very dangerous and tricky to control, especially when you’re not expecting it, the loss of two wheels makes things considerably more perilous, as the rider in this video found out when passing over a patch of ice on the tarmac, he instantly fell to the ground, rather violently (though, he wasn’t riding particularly quickly - good judgement on his part).

The incident was filmed with a helmet-mounted panoramic Go-Pro camera which did its job very well, allowing the viewer to experience the fall from the perspective of the unlucky motorcyclist. Thankfully, the rider was OK, and a passer-by stopped to help him lift his 320+ kg Victory Vision tourer bike and he was (probably) soon on his way with only minor bruising to remind him of the fall.
