Morgan Lucas Secures GEICO Sponsorship for 2009

In a time when many are looking for ways to secure their financial funding for the upcoming season, Morgan Lucas can stop worrying. GEICO Inc, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, have just announced a multiyear partnership with Morgan Lucas Racing for the upcoming season of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. The GEICO/Lucas Oil dragster will be raced by Lucas himself, crew-chief-ed by Jimmy Walsh.

“We couldn't be any happier at Lucas Oil Products and Morgan Lucas Racing than having GEICO onboard as our major sponsor in 2009. It's a big step for us in 2009, and seeing their plans for the year will definitely bring excitement to our race team and the NHRA. We're looking forward to having a great season and taking GEICO with us to the winner's circle. I know I'm looking forward to their promotional ideas in drag racing giving us a promotional boost,” said Morgan Lucas after securing the deal.

GEICO were also enthused about the prospect of joining forces with Morgan Lucas Racing for 2009, as the company is aiming to attract a whole new set of buyers throughout their NHRA wins (to come).

“We are very excited to have a sponsorship deal in place with Morgan Lucas Racing. We firmly believe this team will post some wins next year and Morgan will be a great spokesperson for our company and our line of Powersports insurance products. We are planning to use this sponsorship and Morgan specifically to help us get the word out about all the insurance products GEICO has to offer.”

“We aren't just car insurance anymore, and we have great rates on insurance for all the other things that move them. The tricky part to all of this is just getting people to pick up the phone and call us. We know we have great products with great rates, and we are hopeful that this partnership with Lucas will help us get a few more folks to give us a try,” said GEICO's Eric Vaden after revealing the Morgan Lucas Racing partnership.

Morgan Lucas is yet to win an event inside the NHRA Top Fuel Series, having failed to make the Coundown to 1 in both 2007 and 2008. His best performance in the championship happened in 2005, when he made 3 final round appearances for 5th place in the overall standings.
