After in last weekend's race at Las Vegas teammates Juan Pablo Montoya and Jamie McMurray hit each other while fighting for a position in the top ten, the former decided to have his say on what happened.
During lap 94 of the Sprint Cup run on Sunday, McMurray hit Montoya's left rear corner while entering turn three and sent the latter into a spin. Both of the cars ended hitting the barrier.
"Jamie plain and simple just wrecked us," Montoya said according to Autosport. "Every time I am around him, he wants to run the (heck) out of me. I don't know if it is OK to say that but I just did."
"On the restart I was inside of him, I think he got tight and never lifted, I didn't hit the fence because... it was a miracle. Then I arced it in to three and he just plain and simple just wrecked us."
"I'm sure on the radio it was 'Ah, I didn't mean that.' He is just trying to prove to people he can drive a race car and I guess he isn't doing too many favours on this team."
Montoya on the other hand home how apologized, not to Montoya, but to his fans. In a tweet posted after the race, McMurray said "Tough day, sorry to all of the @jpmontoya fans."
After the incident, McMurray finished the race 34th, while Montoya, due to lengthy repairs to his car, only finished 37th.
