It’s a very well known fact that prices for classic Bimmers have gone up lately in a more than alarming fashion. Unfortunately though, most of the time those prices are inflated just because of the badge, the cars looking rather dreadful when you eventually get there to pick them up. It’s not the case here.
Browsing Craigslist we stumbled upon a rather mint 1973 BMW 2002Tii for sale in Columbia, South Carolina. The car looks absolutely stunning and it looks like it was freshly painted in a color that reminds us of Lamborghini’s Verde Scandal.
According to the ad, the chassis and body are also rust-free and it works perfectly despite its age. The engine and transmission are original but the ad doesn’t specify the mileage they have on.
Either way, judging by the pristine interior, it looks like this car didn’t do too much running during its lifetime. If the engine wasn’t meddled with, this Bimmer should have 130 HP coming out of the 2-liter direct injection engine under the bonnet and reach a top speed of 185 km/h (115 mph).
While by today’s standards these numbers look completely unimpressive you should remember that this is a 40-year old car. Furthermore, the driving feel of this ‘granny’ is hard to match to this day.
UPDATE: It seems like this might be a scam, we're still investigating the issue for the moment but in the meantime, try not to do any deals from a distance with the original poster on Craigslist.
