MINI began the 2015 Dakar Rally with a stage win. Orlando Terranova (Argentina) and his team-mate, Bernardo Graue (also from Argentina), behind the wheel of a MINI ALL4 Racing, managed to steal the first position in the premiere stage of the 2015 edition that is currently underway in South America.
Nasser Al-Attiyah (Qatar) and Mathieu Baumel (France), the crew of yet another MINI ALL4 Racing initially won the stage but they were penalized two minutes and had to drop down to the seventh position in the general standings.

The MINI crew of Joan ‘Nani’ Roma (the current champion) and Michel Perin had to call it quits after just 10 km due to a malfunction. Hopefully, they be back on track soon and defend their title.

The first stage covered 833 km (517 miles) from Buenos Aires to Villa Carlos Paz across Argentina. After the opening ceremony that took place on Sunday in Buenos Aires, the crews raced through this first stage. The start line was positioned right on the outskirts of the capital city.

Krzysztof Holowczyc (Poland) and Xavier Panseri (France) are now on the fourth position overall, while the Dutch team made up of Erik van Loon and Wouter Rosegaar that are also driving a MINI ALL4 Racing car are amongst the top 10 as well, currently sitting tight in ninth place.

The second stage will be one of the toughest of the entire rally, taking the teams from Villa Carlos Paz to San Juan over 518 kilometers (322 miles). The stage will be going over forest roads, dry gravel sections, dry river banks and sandy dunes.
