Despite the rumors that it’s going to be called the Countryman Coupe, MINI said only one magic world yesterday when they showed four pictures via their Facebook page, and that’s “Paceman”. The first look they offered officially should surprise nobody, since we’ve been following the car in our spyshots section for a while now.
But the automaker also chose to reveal a few tidbits of information. “The newest MINI is a two-door powerhouse ready to roar onto city streets soon. Powerful and agile, with a most exceptional take on MINI design, it's not a ride fit for wallflowers. Don't worry, it's OK to stare,” MINI said.
The official reveal could happen in as little as a month’s time, but the market launch is scheduled for March 2013.
The good news is that the Paceman is a thoroughly interesting car. Compared to the Countryman, it’s going to be lighter by 44 lbs (20 kg), while the ride hight will be lower by 0.4 inches (10 mm).
From launch, the Paceman will be available in Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper D and Cooper SD forms, all packing the engine configurations we already know.
