Covering the 4,000 kilometers from Mar del Plata to Peru’s capital Lima in under 39 hours, MINI’s ace driver Stephane Peterhansel secured the top spot in the car category while also scoring his personal 10th victory, six of which were riding a motorcycle.
Behind him came fellow MINI drive Nani Roma, followed by 2009 champion De Villiers in his Toyota pickup. While constantly trying to set the pace, the bigger Hummers were hit by malfunctions.
“I’ve been waiting for five years to win again. To take the victory in South America is a huge relief; it ranks among my best triumphs,” says Peterhansel.
