MINI Aims to Sell 300,000 Units a Year

MINI has pretty high expectations for the future as the British iconic brand hopes to sell no less than 300,000 units a year. The company's head Wolfgang Armbrecht told the Financial Times Deutschland that MINI has the potential to reach its goal in the medium term, although this could sound impossible given the fact that it has delivered 20,552 cars in November 2010.

However, this is actually an increase of 19.3 percent as compared to the same period of the previous year, which is actually a major sign that things could get get even better in the future.

The coupe and the roadster MINI will be introduced in 2011 and 2012, respectively, and will play a key role in the company's effort to increase sales, Armbrecht said while emphasizing that although the brand wants bigger sales, it doesn't build cars to challenge its rival, but to satisfy the customers.

Meanwhile, MINI is believed to be involved in a major project with parent carmaker BMW which is supposed to lead to the German's smallest model in the range. If we are to trust the rumors surrounding the topic, MINI will develop a new model for BMW that could join the German lineup as the smallest vehicle, blending performance and superior mileage.

The main reason behind such a project would be BMW's desire to retail a model that combines small exterior dimensions with large interior volume and turning to MINI seems to be the right decision. A preview of what could become the smallest BMW ever may be presented at the 2011 North American International Auto Show, so we'll keep you in touch.
