Michelin Extends Sponsorship for MPG Marathon

The automotive industry is making some great efforts to protect the environment by developing new technologies that increase the vehicles’ efficiency. However, the driving style also remains an important factor in the efficiency equation, so it is important that the two sides work together.

Automotive innovations and efficient driving will be brought together in the UK’s 2010 MPG Marathon, an event that aims to prove that eco-driving can increase safety, reduce fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. This is why Michelin has decided to continue its sponsorship of the marathon, offering support for the event in 2010.

The 2010 MPG Marathon, organized by the Fleet World magazine, will see drivers try to achieve fuel consumption figures that top those posted by the manufacturers. They will be supported by Michelin's’s low resistance tires, which are suitable for a wide range of vehicles.

It is great news that we have continued our sponsorship of this important event. We know that our fleet customers appreciate the fuel saving and environmental benefits of Michelin tires and we are committed to push this message through our continued support of the MPG Marathon,” said Dave Crinson, Michelin’s head of fleet sales.

After vehicle depreciation, fuel bills are the biggest cost facing every fleet manager and motorist in the UK. Cutting fuel bills is not only financially beneficial to business but also cuts risk and emissions, said Ross Durkin,” publisher of Fleet World.

The 2010 edition of the MPG Marathon is scheduled to take place at Ettington Chase near Stratford-upon-Avon on September 15 and 16.
