This weekend, in the last event of the 2013 Formula Drift Championship, Michael Essa managed to secure the title with his impressive 800 HP BMW E46 M3, specially prepared for this kind of racing.
In a tight race, Daigo Saito, with his 1,200 HP turbocharged Lexus SC430 (using a Toyota 2JZ engine) managed to win the last event but still couldn't change the outcome of the season.

The only man that could threaten Michael's position was Chris Forsberg but he had to win the race to claim the number one spot for 2013. In the end, Chris finished behind Saito and the title went to Essa.

This is the first time an European vehicle wins the Formula Drift Championship in its 10 years of existence. The car was prepared by GSR Autosport and sponsored by Yokohama Tires and Bilstein.
