Earlier today, we reported that the first units of the BMW Z4 GT3 race car reached the private BMW teams, awaiting to be modified for the 2010 events.
Now, a series of leaked pictures showing the Mercedes AMG SLS GT3 racecars have surfaced, showing the car in all its glory.
The SLS’ racing suit isn’t as striking as the one that covers the Z4, but it still manages to capture our imagination. At the front of the car, we can see a large aerodynamic bumper addition, two bespoke air fins and a new hood that features a generous air intake. The car’s rear end features a redesigned rear bumper, which houses a two-fin air diffuser and a large spoiler.
The race car rides on a set of new multi-spoke design rims. Being a FIA GT vehicle, the car also uses a rollcage to protect the driver in the event of a crash.
The car’s stripped interior has replaced the LCD display with a carbon fiber panel, uses a complex digital instrument cluster and features a racing steering wheel. This comes in an Alacantra finish, in order to offer an optimum level of grip.
The car will used a modified version of the production V8 engine. This is a 6.2 liter naturally aspirated powerplant that develops 571 hp at 6,800 rpm and 480 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm.
No details about the car have been offered yet, but it is expected to have a hefty price tag - the BMW Z4 GT3 costs almost $300,000.
