German tuning house IMSA just unleashed a fresh power package for arguably the best looking car ever to call itself an S-Class, the new S63 AMG Coupe.
This somewhat exotic machine started out in life as a direct replacement for the aging CL 63 AMG and has been pushed beyond even the levels of V12 AMG power. In stock form, that famous 5.5-liter V8 under the bonnet was pushing 585 HP, matched to 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). After some electronic tweaks, those numbers have jumped to 720 PS and an almost unbelievable 1,080 Nm (796 lb-ft). Lord have mercy on that transmission.
There's no word on the new levels of potential resulted from adding Aventador levels of power to the S-Class. So let's just say that IMSA's car has the potential to go from 0 to 100 km/h much faster than 3.9 seconds.
The extra power is supported by the introduction of sports cats and the modified x-cross central muffler of the exhaust system, but also by the charge air cooler and the sports air filters. The other big piece of hardware is an aftermarket air suspension system that lowers the stance of the coupe slightly.
The standard features of the car have been left pretty much untouched, which is no bad thing. The S63 Coup' is one of the most beautiful cars of the moment and any rushed attempt to improve that might end in disaster. However, IMSA GmbH has promised to launch its full cosmetic pack next year.
For now, the uber-Merc is made that little bit more special using a fresh wheel design, IMSA's own forged light-alloy rims in sizes 9×21 inch with tires 255/35R21 on the front axle and 10,5×21 inch with 295/30R21 rubber on the back.
