The facelifted version of the Mercedes R-Klasse will debut later this week at the New York International Auto Show, but meanwhile we can enjoy the car through one of the modern media‘s backdoors, a set of leaked images.
As we can see in the pictures, Mercedes has made serious efforts to update the vehicle’s exterior, especially the front of the car. This borrows certain design cues from the GLK crossover, featuring a redesigned apron that incorporates LED daytime running lights, new headlights, a redesigned grille, which uses a bold design and a fresh hood.
The rear of the car has also been redesigned, but the changes are not so dramatic as the ones featured at the front end. The headlights have maintained their overall shape, only featuring subtle changes and a new bumper that incorporates a blackened out ornament has been installed. In addition to that, the facelifted R-Klasse uses rectangular tailpipes instead of the old model’s round ones.
The least percent of redesigned components can be found in the interior of the car, which only comes with minor changes such as an M-Klasse inspired steering wheel.
Judging from the images, the crossover seems to have gained a few inches, but we can’t tell for sure until the car’s official specifications are released. The vehicle’s range of engines is expected to receive upgraded versions, with new BlueEfficiency models. We are pretty curious to see if AMG, Mercedes’ performance division, will decide to include the R-Klasse in its offer, as it did with the outgoing model.
