Ah yes, everybody knows the famous Mercedes R-Class multi-purpose vehicle. Well... not everybody. In fact, it’s one of their biggest flops and will be axed once production of this generation ends in 2013.
It is the first first full-sized multi-purpose vehicle ever produced by Mercedes, first dreamt up as a concept in 2001, at a time when MPVs were more popular than SUVs.
But somebody thought the idea of a Mercedes luxury van was so cool that he tuned in ways we could hardly imagine. This used to be the most power non-AMG version, the R500, powered by a 383 hp 5.5-liter that gets it to 62 mph in 5.8 seconds.
Well, that used to be what the R500 could do before it was turned into this agricultural vehicle. The insane multi-speaker sound system in the back is by Mad Marks Stereo, but the most impressive feature is the 30-inch wheel set, finished in the same metallic light blue as the body, the leatherwork and the rest of the interior.
It’s a sacrilege, but nobody will miss it!
